3 settings cylced in order by button press (in order). #1 Green light aimed down. (perfect for walking and working with your hands). #2 white light aimed down (green turns off). #3 an additional white light facing foward turns on. #4 off. brim of hat conceals most of lights source (except the last facing foward light on #3). light is bright enough for seeing aprox 2ft in front of you on first two settings, i use a flashlight after that, but id suppose the 3rd setting would help a little. The only problem i have with this product is that you have to cycle through the options before you can turn it off. i would hope later models would allow you to hold the button for 3 sec to turn off. for example if your using the "covert green" and want to turn it off to conceal your position you have to click it 2 more times through the "bright white" settings. Other than that its a great improvement to these hats. the batt dont poke my head and arent very noticable.

Pretty impressed with the hat, it is not super bright but good enough to do chores with. Lights are remarkably centered where you are looking. One thought is they should have red LEDs as for hunting it would not spook animals. Definitely happy with the purchase!

This cap is wonderful. I have purchased 6 of them in the past two months. There are three modes which are sequential in nature. First is the green "night vision" mode which reduces your eyes' need for adjustment in dark places. Second is the "Reading mode" which I use at night when reading. Third is full light mode which turns on a very bright front spotlight and the reading lights as well. Perfect for walking at night as you can see far and close. I have had one minor problem with one of my caps as the battery connection was a bit faulty... I placed a bit of tin foil on the connector and it hasn't been a problem since. My other ones work just fine.
